School Buses on Monday 11th UPDATED
Information for Monday
Please look in the all newsletters and correspondence section of the website to find details of the amended bus routes that Heyfordian and Carousel expect to run on Monday. Cape Coaches have informed us that they will try and run the Speen bus as usual but it may be subject to delays. Please note that these are based upon current weather conditions and may change if the weather worsens - continue to check this website for further information. We presently have no information for the other two companies and therefore can only assume that they will be running as normal.

Accommodation near school

Students may be interested in the following offer.
With regard to the exam situation, I am the proprietor of Malvern House, Fernie Fields, just off New Road in High Wycombe. We have 2 single rooms, 4 doubles and 2 twin rooms, all ensuite available for Sunday night, some students have already booked, so the rooms are going fast. If we can help to accommodate exam students please let me know, we will offer a reduced rate of £40 for singles and £60 for twins and doubles. We are a 10 to 15 minute walk from the school, along Cressex Road. If appropriate we also have a web site www.malvernguesthouse.co.uk. Please note that although this offer is from a parent at the school we are not responsible for any contract entered into privately.

Friday 8th Jan - School still closed

We tried ....
It is with great regret that I must inform you that school will be closed on Friday 8th January. I am extremely grateful to those teaching and support staff (and to parents and students who also helped) who spent today clearing the access areas of the school site. We have looked carefully at the possibility of offering some lessons to examination classes but the combined problem of staff availability and the lack of school transport tomorrow means this is not viable. I and my colleagues share your frustration at this situation. Should the inclement weather continue – and the weekend forecast implies it will – the school will be open on Monday for all students (Yr 10 and above) who are sitting public examinations even if the school is closed for other pupils. Students taking examinations should therefore attend if it is safe to so. As advised previously, students may wish to make arrangements to stay locally with friends if possible. Parents also need to be mindful of the safety and practicality of the return journey home from school. Let us hope that the situation improves. We are in liaison with our school bus companies and BCC transport who will produce new bus routes for Monday enabling buses to stay on main roads. Pupils will be collected at designated stops which will be advised to you in advance. In the event that the school is only open for examination candidates we shall understand if students wish to wear warm clothing, practical walking boots etc. Please check the school website for regular updates and a reminder to students that work and guidance is being updated on the Learning Gateway.

Staff notice regarding Thursday

Site clearance .....
If you are able to come into school tomorrow we are planning to start clearing the car park at JHGS and WHS from 11am and all help would be appreciated. It will also be an opportunity update work on the Learning Gateway for students to complete at home.

Collecting bags, books etc.

School will be open on Monday and Tuesday
Assuming the weather improves school will be open on Monday and Tuesday (9am - 4pm) if any pupil or member of staff wishes to pick up any items that are needed over the Christmas break.

Nick Catlin Scores for England

JHGS Old boy helps England beat Korea
Nick Catlin who left JHGS a few years ago helped England's Hockey team to a 4-2 victory over Korea in the Champions Trophy in Melbourne. Although he received his first cap earlier in the year this tournament is the first time that Nick has been represented the Country in such a high profile event. When asked for his thoughts on the performance of 20 year old Nick, Jason Lee, England's Head Coach, was full of praise for a player he clearly sees real potential in: “Cat’s had a very strong tournament, especially considering he has really only just come into the squad. He has caused some very established international defenders real problems and I think he can go on to develop even further.” We continue to watch his progress with interest. Anyone wishing to see some of his performances should visit the England Hockey website.
