They've changed again!
Facebook have recently changed the way that you can set your privacy settings. We have recently informed all students about the need to think carefully about what information they make available in the public domain. There is a short guide giving recommendations on what settings to use that can be download from this website and on the Learning Gateway.
JHGS to feature on the BBC
Saturday 22nd on Breakfast News
Students from John Hampden will be appearing on BBC Breakfast news on Saturday morning as part of a government initiative to increase participation in sport. In the programme Mike Bushell from BBC sports news used the example of how JHGS have introduced ‘Crazy catch’ and ‘Rock-it-ball’ to students as well as running enrichment clubs at breakfast time and on Friday evenings. This has been made possible because of 'Sport Unlimited' funding to school PE departments. This funding concentrates on introducing 'semi-sporty' students to new activities and encouraging increased participation.
The Marlow 5
Thanks for your support!
10 boys (and some teachers) completed the Marlow 5 yesterday, raising money for the forthcoming trip to Peru. Wearing swimming hats, rubber gloves and the occasional skirt the team managed to raise a few smiles from the crowds watching. Thank you to all those who came and supported.
Ski Trip 2011
Parents' Meeting
We are planning to run a ski/snowboarding trip to Tremblant in Canada during the February half term in 2011. This trip will be open to boys from all years and parents are invited to attend a meeting on Monday 10th May at 6pm in the lecture theatre. During this meeting we will be able to give you further information about the trip including the proposed itinerary and cost. You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions that you might have. Attendance at this meeting in no way commits you or your son to the trip.
Enrichment Fridays
Extra activities available
JHGS are again running an Enrichment club on a Friday evening 3.40-5.00. The boys will be able to participate in Crazy Catch, Rock-it ball and Tennis. Students should just bring their summer sports kit and must make sure they sign in with a PE teacher.
