Design and Technology
General Information
Each syllabus aims to:
Encourage pupils to combine designing and making with knowledge and understanding in order that they may produce quality artefacts.
Promote design and technological capability which involves a range of contexts, materials and processes.
Develop practical abilities and the confidence to design, make and modify products.
Encourage pupils to consider the effects of technology advancement.

Keystage 3:Lessons are taught throughout Years 7-9 in dedicated workshops with modern equipment and technology.

DESIGN & TECHNOLOGY: RESISTANT MATERIALS
Pupils will be provided with opportunities to study and to have practical experience of wood, metal and plastics and a range of appropriate processes. They will be expected to use the design process competently and be able to specify tools, processes and materials appropriate for the requirements of their designs.
DESIGN & TECHNOLOGY: ELECTRONIC PRODUCTS
Pupils will be provided with the opportunity to use their knowledge and understanding of electronics with those of relevant resistant materials to design and make suitable electronic products.
DESIGN & TECHNOLOGY: GRAPHIC PRODUCTS
Pupils will be provided with the opportunities to gain experience in a wide range of graphic techniques. Coursework will be based upon the communication of information using graphical means and a suitable model.
DESIGN & TECHNOLOGY: INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY
This syllabus will enable pupils to develop their engineering capability through activities that involve designing skills, making skills, knowledge and understanding in metal and plastics.
