First VX reach last 16 of Daily Mail Vase

The School's First XV have been performing consistently well again this year. Reaching the last sixteen of the Daily Mail Vase for the second year in a row. The team started their campaign with a 41-0 win over Burnham Grammar, which gave them a difficult tie against Lord Williams, Thame. This fixture was a physical encounter with John Hampden scoring four converted tries unanswered.

In the next round, we found ourselves against local rivals, Dr Challoners, whom we had beaten earlier in the season away from home. Another physical encounter saw John Hampden finish 19-5 winners.

Our next fixture was to be an away day at Burford, west of Oxford. With little knowledge of the home team, but a full squad to choose from, John Hampden turned in possibly the best performance so far this year with forwards dominating set piece and tackle areas and backs attacking from depth with great pace.
The fixture was won 20-0.

Our opponents for a place in the quarter final will be another local rival, Henley, who will no doubt put up a good fight. The squad are hopeful of revenge for last year's disappointment. Good luck!
